Sara Engelen (born 1978) graduated in Communication Science at K.U.Leuven and obtained a Masters in Applied Audio-Visual Communication Sciences. The European Erasmus exchange project enabled her to live in Barcelona and complete her studies at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) – Facultat de Ciències de la Comunicació. Her thesis was entitled “Future Females: The image of women in science-fiction movies of the 80s and 90s”. She has worked on the editorial staff of regional television stations and as production assistant at various international cultural events, amongst other odds and ends. Since 2004 she has been part of the VUB R&D Interface Cell team and co-developer of the VUB CROSSTALKS network.
