Robert Clowes` research interests are in the nature of subjectivity, the basis of sign
systems (and other systems of external representations) and the point of
intersection between cognitive science and theories of human nature,
especially naturalist theories. He has also worked extensively building
models, both theoretical and computational on the role of language in
cognition. His thesis work was on the internalisation of language and
explored this notion in the context of recent theories of extended and
external cognition. He has recently become extremely interested in the
philosophy of psychopathology.
