Maria Bettetini teaches aesthetics and the philosophy of communication at the IULM University in Milan. She has edited and translated many works of St. Augustine. Her latest books include: Breve storia della bugia (A Brief History of the Lie) (2001) and Figure di verità. La finzione nel Medioevo occidentale (Images of Truth. Fiction in the Middle Ages) (2004). She is a regular contributor to the cultural supplement of the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore.
