I have been interested in studying primates since the age of 6 when I saw my
first orangutan in a small Dutch zoo. I completed a dissertation on abstract
concept formation in orangutans and gorillas at the Toronto zoo. Since that
time I have been working as a Post-doc, with the Cognitive Evolution Group,
studying the unique cognitive specializations of humans and chimpanzees.
