Grit Laudel is a sociologist of science who investigates the influence of institutions on knowledge production. She has investigated institutional influences on interdisciplinary research collaboration, especially the conditions of the success of two major funding programs that were aimed at promoting interdisciplinary collaboration. She is currently working on the impact of researchers’ conditions of work on their opportunities to acquire external funding. A second project deals with causes and effects of elite migration in science.
