Geert-Jan Houben

Geert-Jan Houben is full professor in information systems at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and co-director of the WISE laboratory for Web & Information System Engineering. He is part-time associated with the Computer Science department of the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e). Currently, his main research area is Advanced technology for Web-based Information Systems (AWIS). In most of his research, the focus is on the application of Semantic Web and Web 2.0 technologies and concepts to provide innovative solutions for (personalized) access to large-scale networked information collections. These specific topics are embedded in the fundamental and applied research done by the entire research lab in the general area of information systems.
