Dominic McIver Lopes is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the University of British Columbia. He is the author of Understanding Pictures (Oxford, 1996) and Sight and Sensibility: Evaluating Pictures (Oxford, 2005). His work has centred on perception, depiction, and the aesthetic and cognitive value of pictures. He is now writing a book on art and technology, specifically the ontology of digital interactive art.
