Angelo Vermeulen (°1971) obtained a PhD in biology in 1998 at KULeuven, together with a degree in photography at the Academy of Fine Arts of Leuven. One of his most recent projects is Drumlander, a creative platform on game culture set up in collaboration with Canadian gamer and artist Louis Blackburn. Drumlander has been creating audio performances with game music and installations with underground games. Currently he is preparing for a residency at the Aesthetic Technologies Lab in Athens, Ohio where he will bring together game culture, ecology and social art practice. Vermeulen is regularly invited to give lectures on art, science and new technologies in universities and art institutes, and is a lecturer at Sint-Lucas Visual Arts in Ghent. He is writing his first book on the relationship between art, technology and spirituality in partnership with art philosopher Antoon Van den Braembussche.
