An Jacobs is a sociologist. She joined IBBTSMIT (Studies on Media, Information and Telecommunication) – one of the founding members of IBBT (Interdisciplinary Institute for BroadBand Technology) – in 2005 as Senior Researcher. Her core interest is integrating social research within all phases of the development process of innovative products. She specializes in particular in user research and design ethnography. Within the team, she is responsible for the co-ordination of projects within the health and care field. She is guest sociology lecturer at the Hogeschool Antwerpen in the Department of Design Sciences.
