Alberto Santel studied Political Science in Bologna. From December 1994 he was Chief of the Traffic Department of the City of Bologna, responsible for the presentation of the PGTU – Urban transport master plan and charged of the general coordination of the new tramline of the City.
He was appointed to represent the City of Bologna in the international organizations that the City belongs to (Eurocities, Comitato Trasporti and Car Free Cities) and to coordinate the presentation of international projects and activities in the field of urban mobility.
In 1999 he was called as organisational secretary of the Association of Italian cities for sustainable mobility and transport issues, a no profit organisation created by the 14 largest Italian cities.
In 2000 he was charged, in ATM (Azienda Trasporti di Milano) of the coordination of the actions to reduce vehicles emissions. This project was awarded by OECD in the “Est! Best practices competition” Conference in Wien, October 2000.
From July 2001, I was charged Chief of the air pollution and sustainable mobility Department by the Minister of Environment.
From July 2002, he has been charged in Comune di Genova, as staff of the Mayor and Director of the new Project Unit for sustainable mobilty programs and for the reorganisation of transportation system.
At the same time he was charged in ANCI – Associazione nazionale dei Comuni Italiani, as technical responsible for sustainable mobility and public transport policies.
