Alain Roussillon is Directeur de Recherche at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Paris. He works at the GTMS (Genèse et transormation des mondes sociaux) at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes. He has been Director of the Center Jacques Berque at Rabat, and vice-Director of the CEDEJ in Cairo, Egypt. He works on the relation between identity and social reforms and has written a number of articles on islamic movements in Egypt and on the rise of social sciences in Arab countries. He is is now working on travel literature.
